​The Spine of Albion is a leyline and ancient pilgrimage route that stretches from The Isle of White to Durness in Far-North Scotland. In Early 2025 Matthew Liam Gardner set out on an 880 mile pilgrimage along this path. He would walk to stir the soul of these lands and her people, to honor his late Grandfather, and to deepen his relationship with these Sacred Isles. The task ahead was immense, particularly after 15 months bedbound with chronic illness and a knee injury. Feeling it was unlikely he would complete the pilgrimage and wondering if the wider community would rally to the call, Matthew set off in the middle of Winter. This is the story of ‘Raising Albion’.
