Ritual Council is an ancient-emergent human technology. It's so deeply human that a knowing of this gathering already lives in the bone memory of all beings and as far as we can tell it activates when someone arrives into deeper stages of leadership and service.

 

This is a multi-faceted, multi-dimensional, alchemical ritual gathering that is both personal and transpersonal, individual and collective, directly relevant to our times and wildly mythic.

 

This is a restorative process, a rewilding, and a return to right relationship between self, other, earth, and the unseen. In a time shaped by fragmentation, speed, and disconnection, the extended council circle becomes something more than a simple gathering. It becomes a portal of emergence, where we remember how to listen, where truth has somewhere to land, where something beneath the surface begins to move and rise into conscious awareness. When Ritual Council is held well, it is not driven by outcome or managed toward temporary resolution. When Ritual Council is held for long enough, it opens a threshold. And beyond that threshold, a deeper intelligence, one that belongs to the collective and to life itself, can reveal itself and arrive into the moment.

To be a Council Keeper of this kind is to hold the field of emergence itself as life repairs, relationship restores, and love evolves into more mature forms on Earth.

 

As a Council Keeper you are stewarding the emergence of consciousness and the full spectrum of what is asked in the spiral of remembering and reconciliation. We tend our threshold field with care. We protect the rhythm, the integrity, the conditions that allow something real to emerge. We set the space well, and lay the anchors that hold the prayer, we welcome participants to the ritual field, introduce them to the threshold and what it might ask of them, and share with them how to meet their time in council well.

 

And in a wider sense, we stay open to the mystery through the unfolding seasons as Ritual Council itself evolves and reveals to us the deeper forms of what it is and what is asks of us.

 

This role asks for a particular way of being, one rooted in devotion rather than performance, in rested presence rather than control. It asks for the capacity to remain when things intensify, to listen without needing to intervene, to trust the process without collapsing into passivity, and to allow all forms of intelligence to guide the field.

 

The Council Keeper Initiation is a week-long training and initiation with Matthew Liam Gardner where you are inducted into this Tradition. For those who desire to hold their own Ritual Councils as part of their service there is 1-4 months of coursework and a supporting guidebook that follows.

The Council Keepers Initiation and Training is a week long immersion into this terrain. This is a certification pathways, but more than that it's a rite of passage into the next stage of leadership and service.

 

In our week together, you will build your relationship with the structures that support Ritual Council to be a powerful and honourable field of emergence. This includes understanding core ceremonial approaches, the ethics involved in such gatherings, and the wider mythologies and cosmologies that underpin keeping these councils. This also asks us to deeply explore the embodied, devotional ground you are resting into as the caller and holding of Council.

This training process will reveal as much as it teaches. It will meet you, test you, refine you. And in doing so, it will make clear whether this is yours to step into.

​

For those who move through this threshold, what is offered is more than a certificate, but a recognition, an endorsement and a blessing to service through Ritual Council in our wider communities.  This endorsement is not offered lightly. It reflects a commitment and a readiness to hold Ritual Council with depth, integrity, and care. From there, you step into the world not as a leader entrusted with a living cultural technology. The spaces you hold will matter. They will shape lives, relationships, and the deeper fabric of what becomes possible between people. This is not a casual role. But for those who feel it, it is not one that can be set aside.
